President Joe Biden and former President Barack Obama chastised Donald Trump and cautioned about the consequences of a second Trump term at a Los Angeles fundraiser on Saturday night. The event, which was moderated by Jimmy Kimmel and featured celebrities like George Clooney and Julia Roberts, raised over $30 million for Biden’s campaign, and while this was a record for Democratic fundraising, it was less than the $50.5 million that Trump claimed to have raised at a private fundraiser in April with prominent GOP donors.

Biden raised concerns about the possibility that Trump would appoint more Supreme Court justices, citing the three justices Trump appointed who were critical in the decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. He said, “The Supreme Court has never been as out of kilter as it is today.”

Reminding Democrats of the lessons learned from the 2016 election, in which a large number of voters abstained, Obama underlined the significance of voter turnout and insisted that “these elections matter in very concrete ways.” While Trump was campaigning in Detroit on Saturday, a spokesman for the candidate attacked Biden for raising money from “out-of-touch elitist Hollywood celebrities.”

Though he mispronounced Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-Tx.) as “Ronny Johnson” when talking about his own cognitive test, Trump recommended that Biden take one. On June 27, Biden and Trump are slated to take part in the first of two debates.
